is Crabtree's 2nd wife.This is a picture of Rhoda "Rosie" or " Rosa" Punhuff-Punthuff-Foothuff or Put-Off , etc . The records in both Estill County, KY and Lee County , VA say she was full blooded cherokee native american indian. She had several children by Crabtree Smyth . In 1838 -she - Crabtree Smyth , Polly Lambert and Robert Armstrong were brought up on adultry charges . She and Crabtree had left her children with his aunt Mary {Smyth} Pennington and "went west with a bunch of indians " which was most prob her family . The story goes they were never heard from again .
She and Crabtree Smyth had family that left Virginia and went to ky, ark, mo, and some to calf.,
there is an artist who is a Punhuff in calf., and I found a Elizabeth Punhuff who was indian in South Jones Island,South Carolina who died in Georgia.I also have a Henry Von Punhuff who lived at Lexington,Ky in 1844.

He md Rachel Rebecca Smith Aug 1 1846 Estill Co., KY. They were md by Abraham Thomas (Estill Co., KY Marriage Bk A p 156) Crabtree left the area with a band of Indians during the 1850’s & his sister, Mary Smyth Pennington raised his children.
