Hannah Crabtree "Smyth",born 1767 & Married September 7,1787 in Washington County,Va.,to Edward (Edmond) Smyth.Edward was a Revolutionary War Soldier & applied for his pension in Washington County,Virginia,at the age of 72.Edward died Dec. 6,1852.His widow,(Hannah) age 86,applied for his pension on November 29,1853 in Owsley County,Ky.,And she applied for his bounty land from Estill Co. Ky. in 1856 & probably died there.No death date.Edward Smyth fought in the BATTLE of KING's MOUNTAIN under COL. William Campbell.(DREPER's KING MOUNTAIN HEROES) After the battle of Kings's Mountain,He and W. Snodgrass were sent back to direct the militia on foot.Later Edward Smyth was instrumental in keeping his Commanding Officer from being Court-Martialed.
Edwards Son Crabtree Smyth:Born Oct. 2,1805 in Lee Co.,Va.And Rhoda (Rosie) Puthuff.Rosie is Crabtree's 2nd wife,She was a Native American & Little is known about her.About 1850,Crabtree rode off with his wife and a large group of Native Americans in the middle of the night.They left all there children with Crabtree's sister Mary "Polly" Smyth.This is all we know about Crabtree Smyth.
